Claudine Leftwich Jones

Mrs. Claudine Leftwich Jones, 78, of Mt. Airy, passed away at her home Wednesday, February 15, 2023.  She was born in Surry County, July 8, 1944, to the late Claude Woltz and Mary Gean Gordon Leftwich.  Mrs. Jones retired from Surry County Schools System, working at Franklin Elementary School for over 30 years.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and a friend to everyone she met.  She enjoyed work and loved the children she worked with.  Mrs. Jones relished time with her family and the many fun trips she made with her sisters.  She enjoyed life to the fullest, bowling, walking, reading, listening to bluegrass music, and square dancing.  Mrs. Jones will always be remembered as a lady with a warm smile, fun times, and lots of jokes.  She is survived by her husband, Sherman Jones, daughter and son-in-law, Melanie and Barry Cowart; a son and daughter-in-law, Buddy and Misty Jones; grandchildren, Amber , Lindsey, Ethan , and Sarah Jones; sisters and a brother-n-law, Ellen Peeples and Donna and Tony Linebeck; brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe and Judy Leftwich and Tommy and Phyllis Leftwich.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by a sister, Mae Frances “Tink” Poole; and a brother Howard Leftwich.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, 20, 2023, at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy conducted by Rodney Dockery.  Burial will follow at 1:00 PM at Mount Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 9:30 AM until the time of the service.  Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.  Online condolences may be made at www.moodyfuneralservices.com
