Clayton Elmer King, Sr

Mr. Clayton Elmer King, Sr., 79, of 165 Stanley Road, Mount Airy, passed away Saturday night, October 20, 2012, at his home. Mr. King was born September 26, 1933, in Surry County, the son of the late Paul Rufus and Myrtle Irene Combs King. He retired from Coca-Cola Bottling Company and previously retired from Sands Vending Company. Mr. King was a member of Saint Andrews Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife, Ossie Mae Whitaker King of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Clayton King, Jr. and Jenny King and Mark and Janice King, all of Mount Airy; a daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Jim Farrar of Mount Airy; four grandchildren and their spouses, Clayton King, III and Jessica King of Conway, SC, Jessica Rae King of Mount Airy, Rachel and Dustin King of Cana, VA, and Beth and Colt Boyd of King; two great-grandchildren, Caden E. King and Jackson W. King; two expectant great-grandchildren, Ada Grace King and Peyton Boyd; a sister, Barbara Wilcox of Mount Airy; several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Brenda King, Ruby King, and Linda and Pete Nichols, all of Mount Airy, Carl and Sandra Whitaker of Dobson, and Mitchell and Darlene Ayers of Lambsburg, VA; several nieces and nephews; and a special aunt, Sue Atkins of Mount Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. King was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Brittany Jade King; and three brothers, Floyd King, Tom King, and Curt King. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 23, 2012, at 7:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with Dr. David Sparks, the Rev. Josh Holder, and the Rev. Butch Holder officiating. Burial will be in the Midkiff Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
