Mr. Clellan Floyd Ramey, 84, of Mount Airy, passed away Sunday, May 2, 2010, at his home. Mr. Ramey was born May 29, 1925, in Surry County, to William Dexter and Grace Smith Ramey. He served our country in the United States Navy during World War II. Surviving are his wife, Audrey White Ramey of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Libby and Richard Nunn of Westfield; a son, Mark Ramey and his friend, Lynn Cauble, of Salisbury; grandchildren, Michael Ramey and his wife, Amy, Nathan Ramey and his wife, Lindsey, Matthew Nunn, and Vicky Simmons and her husband, Eddie; two step-grandchildren, Kim Martin and Wendy Odum; five great-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; a half-sister, Lorraine Edwards; and a half-brother, John Edwards and his wife, Lula. In addition to his parents, Mr. Ramey was preceded in death by a grandson, John Tilley; and a sister, Nell Ramey. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, May 4, 2010, at Skyline Memory Gardens, with the Rev. David Burgess officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1:00 until the time of the service at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
