Clennie Belle Dawson

Miss Clennie Belle Dawson, 86, of Cana, VA, passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2010, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Miss Dawson was born December 3, 1923, in Carroll County, VA, to Arthur and Minnie Branson Dawson. She retired from Spencer's Inc. and was a member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Surviving are two brothers and four sisters-in-law, Glenn and Margie Dawson, Walter and Julia Dawson, and Eulala Dawson, all of Cana, VA, and Esther Dawson of Ararat, VA; and many special nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Miss Dawson was preceded in death by a sister, Hassie Haynes; and three brothers, Garnet Dawson, Luke Dawson and Eugene Dawson. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 20, 2010, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Isreal Gwyn officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 PM until the time of the service at the funeral home.
