Mrs. Cleta Nell Wilborn Rives, 79, of 324 Marion Street, Mount Airy, wife of George E. Rives, passed away Monday, July 31, 2006, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mrs. Rives was born July 15, 1927, in Harnett County, the daughter of the late Sion Hinton and Rosa O'Quinn Wilborn. Mrs. Rives was a graduate of Flora MacDonald College, now St. Andrews College; was retired from the Surry County and Mount Airy School systems, where she taught at Mount Airy Junior High School for more than 25 years; and was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Mount Airy. Mrs. Rives is survived by her husband of 57 years, George E. Rives of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Wilborn and Cathy Rives of Mount Airy and Dr. David V. and Marinda Rives of Clinton; six grandchildren, Ike Rives of Charlotte, Catherine Rives of Mount Airy, Andy Rives of Clinton, Robbie Rives of Mount Airy, Will Rives of Mount Airy, and Ted Rives of Clinton; and a sister, Gwen W. Warren of Charlotte. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 2, 2006, at 2:00 PM at Central United Methodist Church. The service will be conducted by the Rev. John Ferree and the Rev. Tom Bagnal, and interment will follow in the Skyline Memory Gardens. The Rives family will receive friends in the Ladies' Parlor of Central United Methodist Church from 1:00 until the hour of the service on Wednesday, August 2, 2006. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to the Children's Home Society of North Carolina, P.O. Box 14608, Greensboro, NC 27415-4608, or to the charity of the donor's choice.
