Clevers Odell Puckett

Mr. Clevers Odell Puckett, 75, of Hillsville, VA, passed away Friday, March 27, 2009, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. Puckett was born October 15, 1933, in Patrick County, VA, to Arthur Joseph and Etta Hawks Puckett. He was a retired dry wall contractor. Surviving are his loving wife, Vesta Bowman Puckett of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Tina Puckett and Dennis and Melanie Puckett, all of Hillsville, VA; three granddaughters and a husband, Tabitha and Ernesto Ponce of Meadows of Dan, VA, Brandy Puckett and Sarah Puckett, both of Hillsville, VA; a grandson, Joshua Puckett of Hillsville, VA; a great-granddaughter, Raquel Ponce of Meadows of Dan, VA; asisters, Libby Puckett and Frances Mosley, both of Mount Airy; a brother-in-law, Eddie Sumner of Ararat, VA. In addition to his parents, Mr. Puckett was preceded in death by three sisters, Ota Sumner, Lossie Puckett, and Hattie Puckett. The funeral service will be held Monday, March 30, 2009, at 2:00 PM at Rome Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Elmo Hiatt and the Rev. Rayton Puckett. Burial will follow in the Semones Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, where his body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the service.
