Clinton Eli Gwyn, Sr

Mr. Clinton Eli Gwyn, Sr., 70, of Mount Airy, passed away Sunday, March 29, 2009, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mr. Gwyn was born September 28, 1938, in Carroll County, VA, to John Westmoreland and Hassie Guynn. He was retired from Bassett Furniture Company. Surviving are his wife, Dora Elizabeth Tayman Coble Gwyn of the home; a son, Clinton Eli Gwyn, Jr. and wife, Cindy Stover; daughters, Beverly Dianne Gwyn, Renee Grant, and Sheila (Missy) Parris; his parents John Westmoreland and Hassie Guynn, stepsons, Larry Coble and wife, Margaret, and James Coble; a stepgrandson, Benjamin Scott Clarke; a sister and brother-in-law, Thelma and C.J. McBride; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Bobby and Mary Gwyn, Jay and Pat Gwyn, and Wanda Gwyn. Mr. Gwyn was preceded in death by a sister, Lannie Pearle Gwyn; and two brothers, Roger Lane Gwyn and Jesse James Gwyn. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 1, 2009, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, conducted by the Rev. Eric Ayers. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 7:00 to 9:00 at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
