Mr. Clyde Elmer Inscore, age 81, of 268 Old Hwy. 52S, Mt. Airy, NC husband of Lettie Reynolds Inscore passed away Thursday morning, June 28, 2007 at Central Continuing Care. He was born January 31, 1926 in Wilkes County, NC to the late James Monroe and Martha Byrd Inscore. He was a veteran of the US Army having served during World War II, was a charter member of the Bannertown Fire Department, is a member of the Bannertown Ruritan Club and the Holly Springs Baptist Church. He was retired from United Technology with 40 years of service. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Lettie R. Inscore of the home, a daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Robert Slayton, Mt. Airy, NC, four sons and three daughters-in-law, Ricky Inscore, Mt. Airy, NC, Darrell and Pam Inscore, Tobaccoville, NC, Jeff and Debbie Inscore, Midland, NC, Scott and Sharon Inscore, Winston-Salem, NC, nine grandchildren and three spouses, David and Anjeli Inscore, Baltimore, MD, Laura Williams, Mt. Airy, NC, Craig and Buffy Inscore, Pilot Mountain, NC, Michael Inscore, Wilmington, NC, Justin Inscore and Brittany Inscore both of Midland, NC, Hayley Slayton, Mt. Airy, NC, Logan Inscore and Jacob Inscore both of Winston-Salem, NC, four great grandchildren, Landon Williams, Fancy Gap, VA, Marcus Inscore and Julian Inscore, Baltimore, MD and Peyton Inscore, Pilot Mountain, NC, two sisters, Mary Gwyn, Mt. Airy, NC, and Dot O'Briant, Laurinburg, NC and a brother and sister-in-law, Roy and Mozelle Inscore, Wilson, NC. In addition to his parents, Mr. Inscore was preceded in death by two sisters, Hattie Colbert and Thelma Hall and five brothers, Clem Inscore, Marcus Inscore, Howard Inscore, John Inscore and Lytle Inscore. Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, July 1, 2007 at Holly Springs Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Lannie Atkins. Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens. Full military rites will be conducted at the graveside by VFW Post 2019 Mt. Airy and VFW Post 9436 Pilot Mountain. The family will receive friends 7-9 PM Saturday at Moody Funeral Home Chapel of Mt. Airy where his body will remain until carried to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service.
