Mr. Clyde Brodie "C.B." Martin, 72, of Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2012. He was born August 23, 1939, to the late John and Mae Martin of Mount Airy. Mr. Martin was preceded in death by his daughter, Donna Lynn Martin; and his brother, John M. Martin, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Margaret Mount Airy; a grandson, Kyle Casey Martin of Alpharetta, GA; two sisters, Julia M. (Jerry) Briggs of Mount Airy, Robertta M. Robinson (John) of Merritt Island, FL; two brothers, Glenn L.(Sarah) Martin of Carrollton, VA, and Ralph S. (Regina) Martin of Mount Airy; plus many cousins, nieces and nephews. Mr. Martin is a graduate of Mount Airy High School and the University of Florida. After graduating from high school, he served in the United States Air Force. He then returned to Mount Airy and worked for Pike Electric for several years. He then moved to Florida to work at the Kennedy Space Center. After several years there, he moved to Gainesville, FL, to attend the University of Florida. Graduating in 1972, he moved to Orlando, FL, where he was employed as a risk control manager for several insurance companies. For several years, he also owned and operated his own electrical contracting business. The service for Mr. Martin will be held Saturday, March 10, 2012, at 11:00 AM at Trinity Episcopal Church in Mount Airy. The Reverend Ray Hanna will conduct the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to The Western Carolina Alzheimer's Association, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215; American Diabetes Association, 222 South Church Street, Suite 336M, Charlotte, NC 28202; or the charity of your choice. Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy is assisting the Martin family.
