Mr. Clyde Olin Snow, 86, of 590 Double Creek Road, Dobson, passed away Wednesday morning, June 29, 2011, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. Mr. Snow was born March 22, 1925, in Surry County, the fourth child born to the late William Robert and Pearl Harbour Snow. Olin graduated from Copeland High School in 1943. He was a lifelong tobacco farmer, with a special love for riding his tractor. Mr. Snow was a charter member of South Surry Volunteer Fire Department (Station 74), and he served its board of directors for 38 years. Olin was a member of Double Creek Church of Christ. He served the church as treasurer of the cemetery committee from 1968 until 2005. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Dale Hardy of Dobson; a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Cheryl Snow of Dobson; a granddaughter, Sarah Hardy of Dobson; a grandson, Joshua Hardy of Dobson; a brother and sister-in-law, Bruce and Jewel Snow of Dobson; a sister-in-law and her husband, Maudine and Herald York of Mount Airy; a brother-in-law and his wife, Bill and Reecie Johnson of Dobson; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Snow was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Arlene Johnson Snow; a son, Terry Clyde Snow; and two brothers, James Snow and Robert Snow. The funeral service will be held Saturday, July 2, 2011, at 11:00 AM at Double Creek Church of Christ, with the Rev. Roger Sickmiller and the Rev. Dan Villarreal officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 7:00 until 9:00 PM at Double Creek Church of Christ, and other times at the home of Joyce and Dale Hardy, 646 Double Creek Road, Dobson. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Double Creek Church of Christ Cemetery Fund, c/o Joyce Hardy, 646 Double Creek Road, Dobson, NC 27017. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Danny Thore, a driver for YVEDDI, for the special care and attention shown to Olin during his declining health. Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson is serving the family.
