Coble York

Mrs. Coble Stanley York, 93, of Mount Airy, passed away peacefully at Surry Community Health and Rehabilitation Center on Friday, May 10, 2019.  Mrs. York was born March 5, 1926, in Surry County, the daughter of the late Bill and Lillie Dockery Stanley.  Coble retired from Nichols Clothing after many years of service.  She is survived by a daughter, Debbi York Eldridge; a son and daughter-in-law, Nicky and Debbie Fleming York; three grandchildren, Leah S. Taylor and her husband, Jim, Laura Shoemaker, and Leslie Y. Mills; four great-grandchildren, Devon Singleton and her husband, Cody, David Taylor, Corbin Mills, and Caroline Mills; and a great-great-granddaughter, Laylah Singleton.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. York was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Arthur York; two sisters, Cora Stanley Dobbins and Geneva Stanley; and four brothers, Kermit Stanley, Dewitt Stanley, Alvin Stanley, and Ross Stanley.  A graveside service will be held Monday, May 13, 2019, at 2:00 PM at Oakdale Cemetery, with the Rev. Jesse Garmon officiating.  No formal visitation will be held at the funeral home.  The family wishes to express their gratitude for the love and compassion shown by the staff at Surry Community Health and Rehabilitation Center and Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC  27017.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
