Mrs. Connie Lillian Nichols Draughn, 91, of 3201 Red Brush Road, Mount Airy, passed away Monday morning, February 28, 2011, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mrs. Draughn was born June 29, 1919, in Surry County, daughter of the late Charlie Merlin and Lottie Bingman Nichols. Connie retired from Quality Mills after many years of service and was a member of Blues Grove Baptist Church. She taught adult Sunday school classes at the church for 57 years. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Betty Sue and James F. Allred of Pfafftown and Donna and Gene Biggerstaff of Vale; a son and daughter-in-law, Conrad and Donna Draughn of Mount Airy; five grandchildren and their spouses, Jamie Allred of Lakemont, GA, Jessica Biggerstaff and Timothy Tresohlavy of Raleigh, Drs. Trinity and Veda Bharath of Alexandria, VA, and Isaac Draughn and Jacob Draughn, both of Mount Airy; a great-grandchild, Madison Tresohlavy of Fort Rucker, AL; a sister, Marie "Jack" Nichols of Mount Airy; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Draughn was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Lee Draughn; six sisters, Martha Key, Etta Atkins, Myrtle Brintle, Alma "Polly" Nichols, Dora Nichols, and Bertie Badgett; and five brothers, Tom Nichols, Merlin Nichols, Sam Nichols, Chester Nichols, and Harvey Nichols. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at 2:00 PM at Blues Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Sammy Lawson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, where her body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the funeral service. The family may also be contacted at the home of Conrad and Donna Draughn, 3069 Red Brush Road, Mount Airy. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to the Skilled Nursing Unit at Northern Hospital of Surry County, P.O.
