Connie Leftwich (Chaney) Hensley

Mrs. Connie Marie Leftwich Chaney Hensley, age 96, of Mount Airy passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at her home surrounded by her loving family.  Mrs. Hensley was born on November 25, 1926, in Carroll County, Virginia to the late Jackson P. and Ollie Jones Leftwich.  Connie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.  She was a faithful member of Victory Baptist Church while her health permitted.  Connie will be deeply missed by all that knew her.  She is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, David L. Chaney, Mark Hensley and Lesa; one daughter-in-law, Alice Chaney; seven grandchildren, Andrew Chaney, Christopher Chaney and Crystal, Heather Chaney, Joshua Chaney and Brittany, Tyler Easter, Blake Hensley, Meredith Hensley; five great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Vera Haynes Combs, Carolyn Bregel and John; a brother and sister-in-law, Ernest Leftwich and Linda; special friends, Jane Sutphin, Patty Carpenter, Jeff Hawks; along with several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hensley was preceded in death by her first husband, Elwood Chaney, her second husband, Robert Reid Hensley; a son, Phillip Wade Chaney; an infant son Dennis Ray Chaney; two infant grandchildren, Corbin and Maggie Hensley; and two great-grandchildren, Harper and Piper Chaney.  A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 31, 2022, at Victory Baptist Church in Mount Airy at 11:00 AM with Rev. Joey Jessup officiating.  Interment will follow in the Korner’s Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 31, 2022, at Victory Baptist Church in Mount Airy from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy has been entrusted with the arrangements.
