Cora "Allene" Gilley

Mrs. Cora “Allene” Williams Gilley, 87, of Mt. Airy passed away Thursday, January 10, 2019 at Northern Hospital of Surry County.  She was born in Surry County on August 11, 1931 to the late Roma and Martha Flippin Williams.  Mrs. Gilley was retired from Quality Mills and a member of Grace Moravian Church.  She will be dearly missed by all her family and many friends.  She is survived by a daughter, Gina Vogler; a son, James “Randy” Jackson; a step-daughter, Jennifer Lynn Sumner; grandchildren, Emily and David McPeak, Honesty and Adam Ring, Hope and Jordan Williams, Chris Sumner, and Corey Sumner; great-grandchildren, Carter McPeak, Isaac Ring, Caroline Williams, Georgia Kate Williams, and Jack Williams; many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gilley was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Gilley; a son-in-law, Gene Vogler; sisters, Elsie Easter, Margaret Yates, Ruth Arrington, Lois Hodge, and Virginia Sexton.  A funeral service will be held Monday, January 14, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Neil Routh officiating.  Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Monday from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home in Mt.
