Cora Ellen Hawks

Mrs. Cora Ellen Edwards Hawks, 93, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 12, 2021, at Northern Regional Hospital.  She was a loving wife, mother, and friend to all.  She was born in Carroll County, Virginia on October 14, 1927.  The daughter of the late John R. Edwards and Alice Cagle Edwards.  Mrs. Hawks was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Everett Lee Hawks and their infant son, Robert Lee Hawks.  She was also preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Gurtru Edwards, Garnet Edwards, Ruben C. Edwards, Nancy Caroline Lyons, Ruth Crotts and Monroe Edwards.  Surviving is her son, Carl Eugene Hawks and his wife, Carol Sue of Cana, two grandchildren, Tracey Blum and husband, Danny, of Mount Airy and Andy Hawks and wife, Tonya of Ararat, NC; two special great-grandchildren, Devon Blum and Allie Blum.  The Hawks family would like to thank Dr. John Tracy, the staff of Blue Ridge Home Health Care for the special care given to my mother, the nurses, Laura Crotts and Laura Webb, the doctors and nurses of Northern Regional Hospital for the care and love they showed my mother, and special friends Mrs. Connie Cagle and Vickie Hall.  A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, January 22, 2021, at Paul’s Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Justin McCreary officiating.  Mrs. Hawks will lie -in-state at Moody Funeral Home Friday morning from 8:30 until 12:00 PM.  Online condolences may be made at www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
