Corabelle Mayes Edwards

Mrs. Corabelle Mayes Edwards went to be with our heavenly Father on Tuesday, March 25, 2008. She was born February 2, 1922, to Clum and Cora Hayes Mayes. She was a devoted wife, a beloved mother, and a wonderful grandmother and great-grandmother. She was married to the late Glen Edwards for 64 wonderful and loving years, which she has now joined in heaven for a joyous reunion. In her 86 years of life, she touched many people with her kindness and gentle, loving heart of gold. She lived her life for her heavenly Master and her family. She is survived by four sons and two daughters-in-law, Buck and Gloria Edwards, Bobby and Jean Edwards, Lester Edwards and friend, Marylyn Irvin, all of Mount Airy, and Henry Edwards of Dobson; ten grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five sisters and six brothers. Special thanks to special granddaughters, Lois Edwards and Ange Woodruff, a very heartfelt thank you to Madalyn Grace Edwards for all her help in taking care of "Great Granny." Special thanks to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care of Mount Airy, especially Penny Culler for all the love she has shown Grandpa and Grandma. Also, thanks to Carolyn Spraker, Tonya Marshall, and Amy Wilhelm. The family would also like to express thanks to Surry Friends of Seniors: Engle, Janet, Nicole, Alisha, Pam, and Margaret. The funeral service will be held Friday, March 28, 2008, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by Elder Woody Edwards, William Edwards, and the Rev. Tony Holder. Burial will follow in Ladonia Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
