Mr. Corbet Lester Bryant, Jr. 79, of Lambsburg, VA, passed away at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, Sunday, May 2, 2021. He was born in Guilford County, NC, March 19, 1942, to the late Lester Corbit Bryant, Sr. and Iris Velna Spencer Bryant. Mr. Bryant was a graduate of the New River Criminal Justice Training Academy in Dublin, VA, and proudly served as a deputy for the Carroll County Sheriff’s office prior to going to work with the N.C. Granite Quarry. He enjoyed his job there and loved his fellow employees as if they were family. He retired from the quarry after 33 years of service. Mr. Bryant was a “Jack of all Trades”. He had many passions which included gardening, reading, studying about herbal remedies, and spending time with his family. Mr. Bryant, along with his wife Thelma, grew vegetables for the purposes of distributing them between family and friends. Nothing made his happier than sharing bags of vegetables with friends at work. He was a former member of both the Cana Volunteer Rescue Squad and Fire Department. Mr. Bryant will be lovingly remembered by his wife of over 57 years, Thelma Upchurch Bryant; a daughter and son-in-law, Coby and Keith Badgett; sons and daughters-in-law, Blain and Angela Bryant, and Pat and Tina Bryant; grandsons, Drew Bryant, Mason Bobbitt, Jared Bryant, and Tanner Bobbitt; great-granddaughters, Kylie Joyce, and Harper Bobbitt; sisters, Myrtle “Candy” Bryant, and Mary “Cookie” Bryant Maines; brothers and sisters-in-law, Rev. Donald and Opal Bryant, Brady and Shirley Bryant, Jeanette Bryant, Havan Bryant; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Bryant was preceded in death by an infant son, Baby Bryant, and a son Michael Lane Bryant; an infant sister Bonnie Bryant, and a sister Elizabeth “Ann” Bryant; an infant brother Bobby Bryant and brothers Rupert and Truman Bryant. Mr. Bryant will lie-in-state Wednesday morning from 8:00 AM until noon. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, May 5, 2021, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Donald Bryant officiating, and friends that would like to share a special story about Corbet. A private interment will follow at Stantliff Family Cemetery. The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to his son, Pat, for all the countless hours of care, the selflessness and the love he showed during his father’s illness.
