Coy Junior Wood

Mr. Coy Junior Wood, age 82, of Dobson, passed away Monday, January 18, 2021.  He was born August 10, 1938 in Surry County to the late Richard James Wood and Rena Pearl Reece Wood. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Carolyn Lucille Gainey Wood. He married his sweetheart Carolyn at a very young age and was blessed to spend 60 years together here on earth. She passed unexpectedly in March 2020 and he had been longing to be with her ever since. They are now reunited in God’s presence. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Janie Wright, Jesse Wood, Bob Wood, and Bill Wood. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Cynthia (Alan) Hicks , Teresa (Kent) Suddreth, Alicia (Lisa Creed) Mauldin; grandchildren, Tommy (Joy) Wolfe, Devan (Tiffany) Holland, Zach (Alicia) Holland, Colt Suddreth, Claire Suddreth, Alexandria Hicks, Levi Hicks and Katie Heath; great grandchildren, Kylie, Bryson, Sawyer, Lucy, Mya, Skylar, Ayla and Bryer. Also the family would like to offer special thanks to, Susan Suddreth & Staff at Elk Pharmacy; and a special friend, Charles Newman. There will be a graveside service at 2:00 PM Friday, January 22, 2021 in the Bear Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Marty Reece officiating. There will be no services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bear Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o David Bledsoe, 2534 Zephyr Mountain Park Road, State Road, NC 28676.
