Crawley Lee Hamlin

Mr. Crawley Lee Hamlin, 77, widower of Mrs. Beatrice Johnson Hamlin, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday August 19, 2007 after a short battle with cancer at Hoots Memorial Hospital. Mr. Hamlin was born in Surry County on March 24, 1930 to the late Claude William and Minnie Poindexter Hamlin. He was a faithful member of Salem Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon for over forty years and taught the Senior Men's Sunday School Class. Mr. Hamlin was retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company after 29 years of service and enjoyed working with tractors. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, a daughter and son-in-law, Dianne and James Hardy of Dobson; a son and daughter-in-law, Craig Lee and Robin Hamlin of Copeland; a granddaughter Tiffany and husband John Lane of King; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Josie Hamlin and Brenda Hamlin, both of Dobson and Betty Jean and Vance Thompson of Elkin. In addition to his wife Beatrice, who passed away in 1999, Mr. Hamlin was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Clyde Hamlin and Bill Hamlin and two sisters Judy Brendle and Jewel Venable. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday August 22, 2007 at Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Salem Baptist Church from 7 to 9 PM Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Salem Baptist Church Building Fund 430 Rockford Road, Dobson, NC 27017 or to the charity of the donor's choice. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Hoots Memorial Hospital, Forsyth Memorial Hospital, and to the many friends and neighbors for the love and support shown them during this difficult time.
