Curtis Thompson Bowman

Mr. Curtis Thompson Bowman, 72, of Mt. Airy, passed away Saturday, June 28, 2008, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mr. Bowman was born October 19, 1935, in Carroll County, VA, to William John and Katie Mae Gwynn Bowman. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, who will be missed dearly by all who loved him. Surviving are his loving wife, Shirley Collins Bowman of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Brenda Bowman of Sanford, Tim and Rita Bowman of Mt. Airy, and Phillip and Holly Bowman of Dobson; grandchildren, Jessica Wickman and husband, Brian, Chase Bowman, Katie Bowman, Savannah Bowman, and Megan Byrd; and a great-grandson, Zackary Wickman. In addition to his parents, Mr. Bowman was preceded in death by three brothers, Jerry Bowman, Billy Bowman, and Jack Bowman; a half-sister, Delphie Brown; and three half-brothers, Carlie Bowman, Corlet Bowman, and Corby Bowman. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 1, 2008, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Jimmy Tucker and Rev. Darren Slate, and burial will follow in Goins Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday night from 7:00 to 9:00 at the funeral home.
