Mr. Curtis Andrew Danley, 83, of 285 Marion Drive, Mount Airy, passed away Saturday, September 23, 2006, at his home. Mr. Danley was born December 3, 1922, in Surry County, to the late Jay Hue and Della Hodges Danley. Mr. Danley served our country in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II. He owned and operated City View Motel in Mount Airy for 23 years and was a member of Midway Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Arlene Simpson Danley of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Franklin and Dora Danley of Mount Airy; two daughters and a son-in-law, Jean and Ronnie Easter and Jane Steele, all of Mount Airy; five grandchildren, Mark Danley of Ararat, Brian Easter and Tyler Easter, both of Mount Airy, Heather Chaney of Charlotte, and Josh Chaney of Mooresville; and a great grandson, Nathaniel Easter of Mount Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Danley was preceded in death by an infant grandson, Ronald Eugene Easter; three sisters, Edna Venable, Lula Simpson, and Hazel McKinney; and seven brothers, Harvey Danley, Charlie Danley, Berkley Danley, Perry Danley, Garnett Danley, Jay Lee Danley, and Roy Danley. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 26, 2006, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by Brother Ed Parks and the Rev. Doug Cockerham. Burial will be in the Skyline Memory Gardens, with military honors conducted by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard Post 2019 of Mount Airy and Post 9436 of Pilot Mountain. The family will receive friends Monday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
