Mr. Curtis Weldon Gordon, 68, of 266 Ridgeview Drive, Mount Airy, passed away Thursday, July 27, 2006, at his home. Mr. Gordon was born November 15, 1937, in Surry County, to Cecil Gordon and the late Rosetta Thomas Gordon. After graduating from Mount Airy High School in 1956, Curtis served our country in the United States Army. He was a valued partner of Tom Davis Office Products, Inc. for 46 years. Mr. Gordon was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, an avid hunter and fisherman, and a proud fan of UNC football and basketball. Curtis was a little league football coach for 12 years for the Franklin Bulldogs. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends, but his sweet smile and wonderful personality will always be remembered. Most importantly, he was a devoted husband and a loving father, grandfather, son, and brother. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Linda Branch Gordon of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Penny and Paul Blake of Winston-Salem; a son and daughter-in-law, Neil and Beth Gordon of Ararat; three grandchildren, Katherine Gordon and Samuel Gordon, both of Ararat, and Macy Blake of Winston-Salem; his father, Cecil Gordon of Mount Airy; a sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Felton Godwin of Mount Airy; and a nephew and spouse, Jonathan and Leanne Webb of Mount Airy. In addition to his mother, Mr. Gordon was preceded in death by a sister, Sandra Leigh Gordon. The funeral service will be held Sunday, July 30, 2006, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by Dr. Wayne Hager and the Rev. Jim Fink. Burial will be in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 314 South Franklin Road, Mount Airy, NC 27030, or to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
