Mr. Curtis Hoover Guynn, 82, of 106 Chesapeake Lane, Mount Airy, passed away Sunday evening, November 20, 2011, at Golden Living Center. Mr. Guynn was born January 3, 1929, in Surry County, the son of the late Louis and Lottie Thomas Guynn. Curtis retired from Carolina Cast Stone Company, Inc. in Greensboro after many years of service. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Freida Bond Guynn of the home; a daughter, Darlene Rutherford of Mount Airy; six sons and four daughters-in-law, Marvin and Barbara Guynn and Freddie and Teresa Guynn, all of Alto, GA, and Kevin and Lisa Guynn, Walter Guynn, Terry Guynn, and David and Johnnie Guynn, all of Mount Airy; sixteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three great-stepgrandchildren; a sister, Odessa Guynn of Jacksonville, FL; a brother and sister-in-law, Franklin and Vanessa Guynn of Jacksonville, FL; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Guynn was preceded in death by two sons, Paul Guynn and Junior Guynn; and a sister, Margie Guynn. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 23, 2011, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with Brother Ken Aman officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Cana, VA. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
