Curtis Cleveland Vass

Mr. Curtis Cleveland Vass, 76, of Ararat, VA, passed away Monday night, July 22, 2024. Mr. Vass was born October 18, 1947, in Carroll County, VA, the son of the late Harley Green “Boots” and Beatrice Hendrick Vass. Cleve worked as a foreman at G.L. Wilson Building Company for 31 years, and then he later worked at G and G Livestock for nearly 12 years. He was affectionately known as Leroy or Bull among family and dearest friends. He is survived by a daughter, Tina Smith; a son and daughter-in-law, Timothy and April Vass; a beloved granddaughter, Jossie Vass; a sister, Treshia Crowl; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Lester and Joan Vass and Michael and Lucille Vass; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Vass was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Lou Hiatt Vass; and a sister, Rosie Cassell. The funeral service will be held Saturday, July 27, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Ed Bowman, the Rev. Jeff Pickett, and the Rev. Sandy Hendrick officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:00 until 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
