Curtis Haywood Whitaker

Mr. Curtis Haywood Whitaker, 67, of 107 Effie Lane, Mount Airy, passed away Saturday morning, March 2, 2013, at his home. Mr. Whitaker was born October 20, 1945, in Surry County, the son of the late Curtis Henry and Hattie Virginia Stevens Whitaker. He is survived by his wife, Judy Faye Butcher Whitaker of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law, Anita Marie and Darren Bowman and Annette Michelle and Clayton Bowman, all of Mount Airy, and Melonie Ann and Tim Haynes of Cana, VA; three grandchildren and their spouses, Justin and Kelly Haynes and Austin Haynes, all of Cana, VA, and Daniel and Carla Bowman of Mount Airy; four great-grandchildren, Ally Bowman, Kaylee Branch, Riley Hawks, and Arabella Haynes; an expected great-grandchild, Joseph Haynes; and two brothers and a sister-in-law, William Lee Whitaker and Carl Ray and Tina Whitaker, all of Mount Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Whitaker was preceded in death by two brothers, Luther Dowell Whitaker and James Allen Whitaker. The funeral service will be held Monday, March 4, 2013, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Butch Holder officiating. Burial will follow in the Holy Cross Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
