Daisy Viola Marion Smith

Mrs. Daisy Viola Marion Robertson Hembree Smith, age 86 went home to be with the Lord on Monday morning September 15, 2008 at Northern Hospital of Surry County in Mt. Airy. She was born in Surry County on May 25, 1922 to the late Coley Lee and Lettie Atkins Marion. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husbands Rufus Robertson, Charlie Hembree and Frank Smith; one daughter Hilda Bowman; one son Rev. Roger Robertson; one step son Larry Smith; by four sisters Bertha Chilton, Mamie Marion, Stella Lewis and Gracie Marion Atkins; by five brothers Melvin, Gratcie, Ray, Bill and Coy Marion. Mrs. Smith was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church, and was a homemaker. Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law Rachel and Bruce Parks, Renda and Rev. James Shumate, Rhonda and Larry Quesinberry all of Mt. Airy, Teresa and Dean Southard of Yadkinville; by her sons and daughters-in-law Rev. J.C. and Jean Robertson, Rev. Ronnie and Kathy Robertson all of Mt. Airy, Curtis and Sherry Robertson of Pinnacle, Bobby and Lisa Robertson of Westfield, Charles and Kelly Hembree of Dobson, Dale and Edith Hembree, Dean and Gail Hembree, all of Mt. Airy; by her step daughters Betty Mae Garrison, Mary Helen Crews and Ruby Lee Owens all of Georgia, her step sons Charles Hembree, Boyce Hembree, Dewey Hembree all of Georgia, and Bobby Smith of Hillesville, Va.; by a daughter-in-law Linda Robertson of Meadows of Dan, Va.; by a son-in-law Charles Bowman of Dry Pond, Va ; by her sister Sylvia Johnson of Mt. Airy; by thirty nine grandchildren; fifty five great grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at Piney Grove Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Church Cemetery. Rev. Kermit Gray, Rev. Hank Robertson, Rev. Mitchell Robertson, Rev. Ronnie Robertson and Rev. James Shumate will conduct the services. The family will receive friends at Piney Grove Baptist Church on Tuesday evening from 6PM until 9 PM and at other times at Daisy's home Dobson Village Apartments in Dobson. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Piney Grove Baptist Church C/O Garnett Beasley PO Box 1022, Mt. Airy, NC 27030. Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson is serving the Smith family.
