Dallas Gray Thomas

Mr. Dallas Gray Thomas, 80, of 601 Courtyard East, Beaufort, passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2006, at Carteret General Hospital in Morehead City. Mr. Thomas was born April 18, 1926, in Surry County, to the late Murray C. and Esther Riggs Thomas. He was a revenue officer with the North Carolina Department of Revenue for many years. He was a past master of Granite Masonic Lodge #322 AF and AM, a member of Yadkin Masonic Lodge #162 AF and AM, and a member and past Grand Commander of York Rites. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Elizabeth Frye Thomas of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Leigh Ann and Duane Greer of Lexington; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Jeff and Nancy Thomas of Harrisburg, Mike Thomas of Roanoke Rapids, Mark Thomas of Winston-Salem, and Lindsay and Patricia Thomas of Lexington; four grandchildren, Grant Thomas of Harrisburg, Sarah and Chris Eddington of Centerville, OH, Laura Elizabeth Thomas of Charlotte, and Eric Gray Thomas of Gastonia; a sister and brother-in-law, Von and Larry Atkinson of Mount Airy; and a sister-in-law, Linda Thomas of Newport News, VA. In addition to his parents, Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Thomas Slaydon; and a brother, Bill Thomas. A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 9, 2006, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Joe Maye. The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon from 12:00 to 2:00 at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
