Mr. Daniel Craig "Dute" Lowe, 54, of Mount Airy, passed away Friday, June 3, 2011, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. Lowe was born September 4, 1956, in Surry County, to Annie Lee Fowler Lowe and the late James Crissie Lowe. He graduated from Appalachian State University in 1994. He was known as the number one Carolina Tarheel fan and worked for Lowes Foods in Dobson before his accident. Surviving are his devoted mother, Annie Lee Fowler Lowe of the home; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Dusty and Janie Lowe of Mount Airy and Tommy and Brenda Lowe of Pilot Mountain; several nieces and nephews; and two special aunts, Betty Hemmings of Dobson and Mary Fay Jarvis of Mount Airy. In addition to his father, Mr. Lowe was preceded in death by two brothers, Wade Lowe and James Lowe, Jr. The funeral service will be held Monday, June 6, 2011, at 11:00 AM at New Life Baptist Church, with the Rev. Joe Atkins, the Rev. Kenneth Jessup, and the Rev. Gray Kirkman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, where his body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the service. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Bayada Nursing for the love and care given to Daniel and a very special thanks to the family caregivers for the love and support given to Daniel for the past 21 years.
