Daniel Scott Payne

Daniel Scott Payne, 35, of Dobson, North Carolina passed away Friday, November 1, 2024. Born April 21, 1989, in Surry County to Thomas Wayne and Elaine Shumaker Payne. Daniel was above all a family man. The joy of his life was his beautiful daughter, Natalie. His love for her was fierce and his devotion to her was limitless. Beyond being a girl dad, he was a loyal and loving son, a fabulous and cool uncle, and the absolute best baby brother. Daniel loved his Lord and was often tuned in to the radio listening to God’s word. God created Daniel with a brilliant mind. He excelled in education, earned an accounting degree, and built a successful career with Lowe’s. Beyond the intellect was his enormous heart. He adored his lifelong friends and loved them well. His generosity was larger than life. When he learned of a need, he would find a way to meet it. Most of his giving was done in secret with humility and without fanfare. You could often find Daniel outdoors. He loved farming and hunting (he was always up for a rabbit hunt). When indoors, you might find Daniel passionately discussing politics. We smiled when we found his voting sticker showing that his vote will count. 

Along with his parents, he is survived by his daughter, Natalie Payne; sister and brother-in-law, Cheryl Morton and Brad; brother and sister-in-law, Tom Payne and April; niece, Haley Dixon; and nephews, Nathan and Matt Dance. The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 5, 2024, from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at Moody-Davis Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held after the visitation, at 2:00 PM in the Moody-Davis Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Paul Cianchtta officiating. Burial will follow in the New Hope Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery. Moody-Davis Funeral Service in Dobson, NC is serving the Payne family.
