Dannie Joe Wood, age 74, of Lowgap, North Carolina passed away at his home Wednesday, January 6th, 2021.
He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast, outdoorsman, and a staunch Democrat who would have gloated unforgivably to see the Senate turn Blue. He was also a decorated two tour Vietnam Veteran. He was union strong and a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He valued education and was a lover of animals. He was born in Surry County on November 13th, 1946 to the late Fred Wood and Sybil Matula Wood. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Bradford Wood. He survived by his faithful canine companions Silky and Chloe. He is also survived by his children Deniece Wood and husband Panfilo Ascencio, Sean Wood and wife Laura Wood, and Penelope Wood and partner Leslie Lum. He also had eight grandchildren, Kendra Fletcher, Jesse Fletcher, Joe Fletcher, Rafael Juarez, Nicolas Juarez, Emily Wood, Eryn Wood, and Alma Parsons. In addition, he also had two great-grandchildren, Oliver and Greysen; sisters Margaret Stowers, Teresa Smith, and Elaine Shaw and brothers Ronald Wood and Calvin Wood.
There will be a celebration of life to be held by the family at a later date.
There will be no formal services held at Moody-Davis Funeral Home.
