Mr. Danny Rudolph Hawks, 59, of Dobson, passed away Tuesday morning, April 20, 2010, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. He was born January 2, 1951, in Carroll County, VA, to the late Ernest and Pauline Farmer Hawks. Mr. Hawks was a retired veteran of the United States Marine Corp. Danny was the former acting post master in Wytheville, VA, and was the post master in Cana VA. He was of the Primitive Baptist faith. Surviving are his wife, Karen Prevette Hawks of the home; two daughters and a son-in-law, Julie and John O'Brian of Madison, OH, and Samantha Hendrix of Winston-Salem; three sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel and Erin Hawks of Columbus, OH, Jerry and Cynthia Hawks of North Olmsted, OH, and Shawn Michael Hawks of the home; six grandchildren, Cindy, Johnny, and Michael O'Brian, Bobby Hendrix, Jr., Kristena Hendrix, and Caleb Hawks; an aunt, Geneva Bedsaul of Woodlawn, VA; a niece, Jennifer Hawks of Galax, VA; a foster daughter and her husband and family, Joyce and Charles Yonce, Nathan and Miranda, of Elk Creek, VA,; and a brother-in-law, Greg Prevette of Huntersville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother and a sister. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, April 24, 2010, in the cemetery of Crooked Creek Primitive Baptist Church in Woodlawn, VA. Full military honors will be provided by the United States Marine Corp Funeral Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 at Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson.
A Graveside service will be held 11:00 A.M. on Saturday April 24, 2010 in the Cemetery of Crooked Creek Primitive Baptist Church, in Woodlawn, Va. Full Military Honors will be by the US Marine Corps Funeral Honor Guard. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 7 P.M. until 9 P.M. at Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson, NC.
