Danny Ray Jones

Mr. Danny Ray Jones, 71, of Cana passed away peacefully on January 5, 2022, at Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home. He was born on October 11, 1950, to Elza Combs Jones and the late Berna “Sol” Jones. Danny traveled the country as a truck driver and spent many summers at the Columbia, SC State Farmer’s Market, but his favorite place was to be surrounded by his grandbabies. He always had an unlimited supply of fudgesicles and Pepsi ready for them. Before his illness, you could often find Danny solving the world’s problems over breakfast with his Uncle Perry and cousins, Eddie & Teddy Combs. In recent months, he could be found in his Uncle Donald’s backyard with Greg, Tony, and Ronald shooting the breeze. He was an avid NASCAR fan. In addition to his father, Danny is preceded in death by his twin brother, Dennis and brother Delmer “Bo” Jones. Danny is survived by his mother, Elza Combs Jones; two daughters, Jennie (Scottie) Marley of Ferguson, NC and Melissa (Dale) Bumgarner of Boomer, NC; a son, Brian (Britt) Jones of Hudson, IN ; grandchildren Amanda (John), Andrew (Natalie), Bristol, Katie, Josh and Ashley; great-granddaughter, Lily; great-grandsons, Will, Ty, Trevor, and Ezra; two sisters, Brenda Gail (Gary) Leftwich of Cana, Charlotte Jones of Myrtle Beach; sister-in-law, Debbie Jones; special brother-in-law, Danny Richardson; numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at the Jesse Jones Family Cemetery, at 2:00 PM, Monday, January 10, 2022, with Rev. James Jones and Brother Greg Jones officiating. The family will receive friends Monday, at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy from 12:30 PM until the time to leave for the service.
