Daron Samuel Hamby

Mr. Daron Samuel Hamby, 76, of Mount Airy passed away on December 12, 2021, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. He was born in Surry County, August 18, 1945, the son of the late Orville and Martha Simpson Hamby. Mr. Hamby was retired from Renfro Corporation, and currently was working at the Surry County Recycling Center. He is a veteran of the United States Army and a member of Highland Park Baptist Church. Surviving is his wife of 55 years, Catherine Pender “Cathy” Hamby; nephews, Jeffrey Puckett, Jonathan Puckett and wife, Tonia, and Rev. Stephen Puckett and wife, Kristen; great nieces, Madison Paige Puckett, Hannah Grace Puckett, Natalie Eden Puckett, Laura Ashley Puckett, Mia Faith Puckett, Lily Peyton Puckett and Jada Gretchen Puckett; great nephew, Max Thomas Puckett; brother-in-law, Rev. Winston Puckett; his four-legged precious companion, Wendy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, David Hamby, stepbrother, Larry Hamby, sister-in-law, Peggy Puckett. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 15, 2021, at 1:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home of Mount Airy with Dr. Darrell Tate, Rev. Winston Puckett, and Rev. Stephen Puckett officiating. Interment will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens with graveside rites conducted by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard of Mount Airy and Pilot Mountain. Mr. Hamby’s family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until the hour of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Gideons International, P.O.
