Darren Leland Michaud

Darren Leland Michaud, age 17, of Stuart, Virginia passed away on June 24, 2020.

He was born on July 1, 2002, in Martinsville.  Darren was preceded in death by his grandmother, Diane Fay Blanchard; one great-grandmother; Ada Mae Jarvis; and two great-grandfathers, James Drewy Cassady, and Leland Blanchard.

Darren was the kindest soul anyone could ever meet.  He grew up loving music, joining the band in 7th grade, and playing the trombone until he passed.  He joined the PCHS Marching Band in 9th grade and got to spend his first year with his sister, Brooke Michaud, who was a trumpet player.

“Lungs of Steel” and “Iron Lungs”, the perfect duo!  Darren looked up to his teachers, Mr. Whitt and Ms. Stevens.  He learned to play almost every instrument in the band room and was marching the tuba this year, his senior year.

Darren also grew up working with his daddy, Jamie Michaud.  He loved diesel mechanics, working on dump trucks, and equipment.  His dad also taught Darren the trade of installing flooring, he helped with the installation of the gym floor at George Wyth High School, the stage at the Roanoke Berglund Center, and several places along the east coast.  Darren truly enjoyed working alongside his daddy.

Darren was employed by Little Caesar’s Pizza in Stuart and he absolutely enjoyed working at his pizza place.

Darren became an uncle on June 18, 2020, to a beautiful niece named Nayeli Fay Belcher.  Darren and his sister had a close relationship and always enjoyed going out for sushi together.  He was loved by so many people, he was so kind and polite to everyone he met and would give the shirt off his back or his last dollar to help anyone.  His passions, other than the band, were riding dirt bikes and hanging with his best friend, Daniel, who Darren taught how to play the tuba.

He loved his girlfriend so, so much, Miss Hannah Janey, and he was planning his life with her.  Darren was a leader in everything he did, and he will continue to be a leader in Heaven.  WE LOVE YOU, DARREN!  UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN.

Darren is survived by his parents, Theresa Lynn Michaud and Jamie Leland Michaud of the home, a sister and brother-in-law, Brooke Gabrielle Michaud and Keith Belcher of Patrick Springs, one niece, Nayeli Fay Belcher; one aunt, Carrie Lachance of Maine; nana, Teresa Cassady of Patrick Springs; great-granny, Velma Cassady of Patrick Springs, papa, George Jarvis of Cowen, West Virginia; grandma, Diane Carpenter; papa, Gary Michaud of Maine; grandma, Debbie Doyon St. Pierre of Maine; girlfriend, Hannah Janey of Critz; best friend, Daniel Hernandez of Patrick Springs, and many friends.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. in Michaud Family Cemetery (located on Meadow Brooke Loop) with George Lambert officiating.  Anyone may come by Moody Funeral Home in Stuart on Monday, June 29, 2020, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. to pay their last respects to Darren.  Online condolences may be sent by visiting www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
