Darwin E Brightbill, Jr

Mr. Darwin E Brightbill, Jr., 63, of Mount Airy, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 11, 2010. Mr. Brightbill was born June 9, 1947, in Wayne County, MI, to the late Darwin E Brightbill, Sr. and Mary Cullom Brightbill. He served in the United States Navy and retired from Lucent Technologies. He was currently employed at Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care as a CNA II. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Frank Kurta of Grosse Pointe Park, MI; two grandsons, Joseph Kurta and Nicholas Kurta, both of Grosse Pointe Park, MI; his former wife, Nancy Brightbill and their grandson, Ryan of Mount Airy; five stepdaughters, Charlotte, Delores, Sharon, Melanie, and Vicki; nine stepgrandchildren; and six great-stepgrandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Brightbill was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas Brightbill and Wesley Brightbill. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 14, 2010, at 11:00 AM at Salem United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dennis W. "Bud" Cameron officiating. Military rites will be conducted immediately following the service by VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy and Tuesday at the church from 10:00 until 11:00 AM.
