David Weldon Bowman

Mr. David Weldon Bowman, age 80, of Mt. Airy, passed away on December 23, 2018 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.  He was born August 21, 1938 to the late William “Jim” Gossie and Mabel Wilson Bowman.  Mr. Bowman retired from Vulcan Material where he was a metal fabricator and was of the Presbyterian faith.  Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Carolyn Rook Bowman of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, Arlene and Russel Daniel, Virginia “Ginny” and Ron Clark, Sharon and Tommy Bowman, Lisa Hooker and special friend Gilmer Lawson; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Vicki Bowman, Mark and Rita Bowman; step-sons, Charles Rook, Barry Rook and wife Dawn;  thirty one grandchildren; and thirty great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Diona and Carlos Goad, Wynette and Pal Laws; sister-in-law, Elizabeth “Betty” Bowman; brothers and sister-in-law, Reavis and Linda Bowman, Hassel And Lucille Bowman, Eugene “Gene” and Laura Bowman.  In addition to his parents Mr. Bowman was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Geraldine Paton Bowman, sister, Linda Bowman brothers, Kenneth and Donald Bowman. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 28, 2018 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with services conducted by Rev. David Bowman.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.  In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mt Airy NC 27030.
