David Michael Davis

Mr. David Michael Davis, of Pfafftown, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at the age of 30. David was born in Lee County on January 16, 1994. Strong in his faith, he knew his Lord and Savior and clung to the promise of God’s grace and mercy. Comfort comes to his family knowing that he is enthusiastically rejoicing in Heaven.

David was kind and had a smile and a “how are you doing” for everyone he met. He loved to learn about diverse cultures and embraced all people. He was politely curious when he met new people – genuinely wanting to learn about each person he met. Even in challenging times, he had a positive attitude and was always more concerned about others than himself. David had a special interest in health and physical fitness, and he loved music of every kind. His mischievous smile and quick wit made many laugh. David was a foodie, enjoyed cooking, and loved his hot sauce. During holiday dinners, he enjoyed hot sauce challenges with his brothers. He shared a sensitive free spirit and gift of artistic ability with his sister. He was an encourager and never pretended to be anyone he was not. His genuine spirit and embrace of the simple things will always be remembered. When asked what he wanted for birthdays or Christmas, he replied, “I have everything I need.” Biology did not define family in David’s mind and heart. David loved his very large, blended family and appreciated all that he received through them – never focusing on the material. He would often express how blessed he was. He was fiercely protective and immensely proud of his younger brothers, Phoenix and Zack, and encouraged them to dream big.

As a youth in Nash County, David was an avid Cub Scout and Boy Scout, earning his Arrow of Light from Pack 37 and advancing to the rank of First Class Scout as a member of Troop 37. David earned a Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do at age 12. He loved living in the country surrounded by woods, his beloved dog Bully, cat Lizzie, and several horses. David also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and family beach trips. He was baptized at Nashville United Methodist Church in Nashville in June 2006 and was active in youth activities.

David graduated from Southeast Guilford High School in 2012 and graduated from Forsyth Technical Community College with an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Welding Technology in 2019. After working as a welder for several years, he moved into other jobs in manufacturing.

He is survived by his mother, Amy McCurdy Davis-Moore (Mack); his father, Robert Darryl Davis (Julie); his brothers, Phoenix Davis, Samuel Moore (Allison), and Zechariah Moore; his sister, Maggie Moore Setzer (Trevor); his niece, Amelia Setzer; his nephews, James Setzer and George Moore; his grandparents, Marlene and Danny McNaught, Roger McCurdy, Tobie and Gilbert Pierce, and Sidney Weeks; his uncles and aunts, Shane McCurdy (Jessica), Amanda James (Ben), Dale Davis, Dwight Davis (Tammy), Regina Purvis (Phil), David Davis (Donna), Melissa Knotts (Scott), Richard Moore (Matt), and Allen Weeks (Nicole); and numerous cousins.

David was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bill and Frances Davis, Zackie Moore, and Carolyn Weeks; and numerous great aunts and uncles and cousins.

David touched many people during his too short life. While his sudden passing leaves a hole in the hearts of his entire family, solace is found in knowing David is peaceful and free of earthly struggles.

A service of worship and celebration of David’s life will be held Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Chestnut Grove Church in King. A graveside service will follow at Pilot Mountain City Cemetery. Following the graveside service, family and friends are invited to the home.
