David Eugene "Gene" Easter

Mr. David Eugene “Gene” Easter, age 82, of Lowgap, passed away Friday, February 7, 2020, at the Woltz Hospice Home.  Mr. Easter was born in Surry County on December 28, 1937, to James Columbus “Lum” and Iris Love Thacker Easter.  He proudly served our country in the United States Army and worked at Quality Mills for 19 years and retired from Renfro Corp. after more than 30 years of dedicated service.  He bowled for over 40 years with the same group of friends.  He leaves to cherish his memories of his kind and gentle soul, his daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Robin Edwards; his grandchildren, that he absolutely loved spending time with, Hunter Edwards and Macey Grace Edwards; “adopted granddaughter”, Bethany Brown; sisters, Lutricia Reeves, Evelyn Dunkley and Sue Bowman; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ray and Betsy Easter, Woody and Eloise Easter, Bob and Judy Easter, Odell and Amy Quesinberry, and special friends Terry and Tom Marcum.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Easter was preceded in death by his wife, Marvene Goodson Easter.  A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM, Tuesday, February 11, 2020, at Mountain View Baptist Church Cemetery by Rev. Ewell Vernon and Rev. Larry Stone.  Burial will follow in Mountain View Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors by VFW Memorial Honor Guard, Pilot Mtn. Post 9436 & Mt. Airy Post 2019, including taps by Judith Lineberry.  The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 1:30.  Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Rd., Dobson, NC 27017 or to Mountain View Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, P.O.
