David Samuel Greer, Sr.

Mr. David Samuel Greer, Sr., age 80, of Hillsville, Virginia passed away on Friday, September 29, 2023, at LewisGale Medical Center in Salem. David was born in Patrick County on July 8, 1943, to the late Sam Greer and the late Ethel Gay Hall Greer. In addition to his parents, Mr. Greer was preceded in death by two sons, David Greer, Jr., and Tony Glenn Greer. Mr. Greer enjoyed fishing, shooting his guns, and loved Ford cars. He always took a stand for what he believed in. David was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. David will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Left to cherish the fond memories of Mr. David Greer are his loving wife of 54 years, Delores Christine Jackson Greer of the home; four children, Sandy Greer (Jason Sexton) of Narrows, Virginia, Dawn Greer of Hillsville, Virginia, Richard Greer of Fort Chiswell, Virginia, Elizabeth Whiteley (Leon Conner) of Meadows of Dan, Virginia; seven grandchildren, Faith Adams (Dustin Adams), Emily Whiteley, Lucas Shelton, Bailey Greer, Josh Shelton, Ben Conner, Noah Conner; four great-grandchildren, Madison Hall, Natalie Hall, Dylan Adams, Brantley Maxwell; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Almeda Alley of Trinity, North Carolina, Elizabeth Compton of Milton, Florida, Sue Greer Cox (Richard) of Woolwine, Virginia, Velvet Greer Wyatt (Kevin) of Lynchburg, Virginia; two brothers and sister-in-law, Roy Greer of Stuart, Virginia, Alfred Greer (Sharon) of Woolwine, Virginia; daughter-in-law, Lori Greer of Rocky Mount, Virginia; and several loving nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.  

A funeral service for Mr. David Greer will be held on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Stuart with Pastor Dewayne Trout officiating. The burial will follow in the Greer Family Cemetery on Deer Run Road in Ferrum, Virginia. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service on Tuesday morning at the funeral home.
