Mr. David Michael Gullion, 71, of Dobson, passed away Saturday, September 15, 2012, at Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem. Mr. Gullion was born July 11, 1941, in Bluewell, WV, to George and Zola Tabor Gullion. He was a devoted husband of 48 years, a loving father and grandfather, and a humble, kind-hearted, faith-filled, eternity-minded servant. He spent 45 years in ministry as a missionary, teacher, pastor, coach, and Christian bookstore owner, influencing tens of thousands of people for God. His life's theme was "Only one life, 'twill soon be past; Only what's done for Christ will last." He loved his family, his work, books, sports, and corny jokes. He will be greatly missed and remembered. Surviving are his loving wife, Loretta Gullion of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Dwight and Missy Gullion of Tobaccoville, Dwain and Heidi Gullion of Bennett, and Brian and Kimberly Gullion of Lowgap; grandchildren, Josiah, Titus, Phebe, Chloe, Cyrus, Anna Brooke, Sarah Hope, Jonathan, Beulah, Anniebelle, Zola, Alia, Liza, and Ivory; sisters and brothers-in-law, Dona and Thurman V. Johnson of Winston-Salem; Dorothea and Dudley Compton of Charlotte, and Jean and Robert Preston of Mount Airy; brothers and sisters-in-law, George and Janet Gullion of Portsmouth, OH, and Morris and Lynda Gullion of Waverly, OH. A service of remembrance and celebration will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, September 19, 2012, at Gospel Light Baptist Church in Walkertown, by Dr. Craig Edwards and Bro. Bobby Roberson. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. A time of remembrance will also be held Friday night at 6:00 PM at Monticello Baptist Church in Statesville. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to the National Christian Foundation, P.O. Box 98446, Raleigh, NC 27624 with "Great Heart Fund" on the memo line. Memories and pictures of David to be included in a book to be published in honor of his life may be brought to the funeral services or any Gullion's bookstore.
