David Michael Reece

Mr. David Michael Reece, age 76, of Dobson, NC passed away unexpectedly on October 30, 2021, at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. David was born November 19, 1944, to the late William Harold Reece and the late Violette Emma Wolfe Reece. He was a Veteran of the US Army and employed with the Surry County Schools Maintenance Department for 28 years. David also was a tobacco farmer and part-time barber for several years. He enjoyed gardening, John Deere tractors and was an avid NC State fan. David never met a stranger. He could always pull a joke on anyone he met. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Judy Wall Reece, daughters and sons-in-law, Amy and Marc Hanson, Kristi and Donald Freeman; grandchildren, Katie Elizabeth Branch, Natalie Brooke Branch, Reece Allan Hanson and Colin Jacob Freeman; sisters, Barbara Reece Alford, Brenda Reece Rollins; brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Fran Reece; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Reece was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Beth and Barry Humber. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at 2:00 pm in the Crossroads Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Jeff Wall officiating. Military Honors will be presented by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Honor Guard Mount Airy Post 2019 and Pilot Mountain Post 9436. There will be no visitation held at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030 or to a Veterans organization of your choice.
