Mr. David Roy Smith, age 64, of Siloam, passed away Thursday, March 30, 2023, at his residence. He was born December 20, 1958, in Surry County, to the late James Elbert Smith and the late Ethel Sue Hill Smith. Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 39 years, Pam Stanley Smith; daughters and sons-in-law, Heather Smith Hammaker and Luke Hammaker, Haley Smith Efird and Gene Efird; son and daughter in law, Hunter and Katie Smith; grandchildren, Gracie Hammaker, Maddie Hammaker, Emmy Efird, Aubry Efird, and Parker Smith; sister, Linda Smith; sister/brother in laws, Greg Stanley, Debbie Stanley, Vickey Wood (Bruce) and several special nieces, nephews, and cousins. David was a loving husband, father, and “Poppy”, whose contagious smile lit up the room wherever he went. David loved farming and was named Pullet Grower of the year for Wayne Farms in 2022. He also served on the Surry County Farm Bureau Board as Vice President. He was an avid member of Siloam Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and on many other committees.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 4, 2023, from 6-8pm at Moody-Davis Funeral Service in Dobson. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at 2:00pm at Siloam Baptist Church with Rev. Jarred Seal, Rev. Bill Faw, and Rev. Stuart Mauck officiating. Mr. Smith will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Siloam Baptist Church, PO Box 25, Siloam NC 27047. Moody-Davis Funeral Service in Dobson is serving the Smith family.
