David Joseph Wanchick

Mr. David Joseph Wanchick, 70, of Lowgap, passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mr. Wanchick was born March 28, 1941, in Ravenna, OH, in Portage County, to Margaret Krak Wanchick and the late Peter Wanchick. He spent his professional career in the transportation industry with Roadway Express and Mclean Trucking Company. He was an owner of Anderson and Webb and the Melton Industrial Truck. He is survived by a son, D.J. Wanchick of Charlotte; his mother, Margaret Krak Wanchick of Mount Airy; a brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Carol Wanchick of Beaumont, TX; two nieces and a nephew, Kristi Moore, Marianne Dugan, and Thomas Wanchick, all of New York; an uncle, Joe Krak of Kent, OH; an aunt, Pauline Francis of Stow, OH; and his supportive and loving friends at Orchard Mountain. A memorial service will be held Monday, June 13, 2011, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
