David Michael Woodruff

Mr. David Michael Woodruff, age 72, of Mount Airy, passed away Saturday night, December 31, 2022, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.  Mr. Woodruff was born June 11, 1950, in Surry County, to the late Henry David and Virginia Hoots Woodruff.  David proudly served his country in the United States Army.  Mr. Woodruff was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.  He will be deeply missed by all that knew him.  He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Bateman Woodruff, one daughter and son-in-law, Amanda Lynn Woodruff Fletcher and husband Chris, two grandchildren, Jackson Fletcher, Cassidee Fletcher; a brother Joseph “Joey” Henry Woodruff and wife Leslie; a nephew, Ben Joseph Woodruff; along with other loving family members.  Mr. Woodruff was preceded in death by his parents.  A graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Doe Run Baptist Church Cemetery in Ararat, Virginia with Rev. Arlis Thomas officiating.  Inurnment will follow in the church cemetery.  Military rites will be conducted by VFW Honor Guard Post 2019 Mount Airy and Post 9436 Pilot Mountain.  No formal visitation will be held.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, PO Box 302, Mount Airy, NC 27030.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy has been entrusted with the arrangements.
