Dawn Marie Wagoner Ayers

Mrs. Dawn Marie Wagoner Ayers, 74, of Cana, VA, passed away Tuesday morning, September 6, 2016, at her home. Mrs. Ayers was born November 13, 1941, in Pulaski, VA, the daughter of the late James and Mary Cruff Wagoner. Dawn formerly owned and operated Ayers Produce in Pulaski, VA, and was a member of Bear Trail Baptist Church. She was a hard worker who was dearly loved by all who knew her. She is survived by her children, Larry Ayers and his fiancée, Tammy Horton, Gary and Lucretia Ayers, Judy and Howard Williams, Michael Ayers and his fiancée, Lisa Thompson, Carolyn and Chuck Whitt, and Kitty and Steve Tate; twelve grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; two great-stepgrandchildren; an expectant great-grandson; a sister, Loretta Height; and her little dog, Snuggles. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ayers was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, James Matthew Ayers; a brother, Donnie Wagoner; and two sisters, Margaret Rorrer and Alberta Hall. The funeral service will be held Friday, September 9, 2016, at 2:00 PM at Bear Trail Baptist Church, with the Rev. Timmy Crotts officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Bear Trail Baptist Church. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
