Delane Dale Mayes

Mr. Delane Dale Mayes, 48, of 314 Flippin Road, Lowgap, passed away Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at his home. Mr. Mayes was born April 14, 1962, in Surry County, son of Hassie Moore Mayes Jarrell and the late Curtis H. Mayes. Delane worked in the construction industry for several years. He is survived by a daughter, Sunny Noel Mayes of Fries, VA; two sons, Justin Mayes and Coty Mayes, both of Lowgap; his mother, Hassie Moore Mayes Jarrell of Lowgap; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Shirley and Larry Payne, Nedra Edwards, and Nelvra and Earl Dozier, all of Dobson; a brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Rita Mayes of Dobson; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, Mr. Mayes was preceded in death by a brother, David Mayes. A graveside service will be held Saturday, July 17, 2010, at 11:00 AM at Ladonia Baptist Church Cemetery, with Ronald Payne officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 9:00 to 10:30 AM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
