Mr. Delano Roosevelt Fowler, age 84, of Dobson, left his earthly home on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 after an extended illness. He was born January 17, 1937, in Surry County, NC, to the late Alex Fowler and the late Hattie White Fowler. Delano was a member of Fairview Baptist Church where he served as a deacon as long as his health permitted. He retired from RJ Reynolds after 33 years of service. He also raised tobacco on the family farm for several years, was a huge Duke Basketball fan, LA Dodgers fan and loved to garden. Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 66 years, Annette Wolfe Fowler; children, Tony Fowler, Mona Porter, Shane and Kristi Fowler, Jeff and Lori Fowler; grandchildren, Brianna and Beau Hiatt, Alex Fowler, Marissa Fowler, Chris and Sonya Longworth, Shawn and Lindsey Brindle, Michael and Michelle Tran; great-grandchildren, Jasmyne Hiatt, Carter Hiatt, Lily Brindle, Alexis Tran, Angelina Tran; brothers and sisters-in-law, James Fowler, Beauford Fowler, Odell and Carolyn Fowler, Barbara Fowler; sister, Annie Lou Rosendahl; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Fowler was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Patty Fowler; great-grandson, Jayden Wright; brother, Harlow Fowler; sisters-in-law, Frances Fowler and Mabel Fowler; brother-in-law, Fred Rosendahl. A private graveside service will be held on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at 2:00 pm in the Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery. Dr. Billy Nale will officiate the service. There will be no formal visitation.
