Mrs. Delia Geneva Hiatt Sechrest, 90, of Mount Airy, passed away Friday, April 8, 2011, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Sechrest was born October 6, 1920, in Surry County, to William Henry and Gracie Darling Shelton Hiatt. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother, who will be dearly missed by all her dear family and friends. Mrs. Sechrest was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where she sang in the choir and served in numerous callings. Delia's special loves were her family and her faith, plus she always had a zest for life. Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Verona and Blaine Jarvis of Snowflake, AZ, and Sherita and Adrian Jarrell of Mount Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Nancy Sechrest of Highland, UT; grandchildren, Louis Jarvis and his wife, Dawn, of Mesa, AZ, Janet Funkhouser and her husband, Lee, of Mesa, AZ, Kelly Jarvis and his wife, Jennifer, of Snowflake, AZ, Mitch Jarvis and his wife, Shiela, of Chandler, AZ, Ryan Jarvis and his wife, Megan, of Gilbert, AZ, Lisa Peck and her husband, Shawn, of American Fork, UT, Nate Sechrest and his wife, Alayna, of Salt Lake City, UT, Amanda Sechrest of Highland, UT, Daniel Sechrest of Highland, UT, Kristen Barnett and her husband, Cory, of Raleigh, Ethan Jarrell and his wife, Lois, of Durham, Adam Jarrell of Raleigh, and Logan Jarrell of Mount Airy; great-grandchildren, Jade and Ty Bennett, Jason and Mallory Jarvis, Alexa Jarvis, Cole Jarvis, Ashley and Wil Nuga, Derek and Alana Funkhouser, Miranda Funkhouser, Jacob Jarvis, Rachel Jarvis, Christopher Jarvis, Davin Jarvis, Delia Jarvis, Seth Jarvis, Madison Jarvis, Maizey Jarvis, Halle Peck, Luke Peck, Liberty Peck, Afton Peck, Elise Barnett, Ian Barnett, Merry-Grace Barnett, Paige Barnett and Isabella Jarrell; a great-great-grandchild, Peighton Bennett; two brothers and sisters-in-law, John D. and Mary Hiatt of Winston-Salem and Roger L. and Nancy Hiatt of Memphis, TN; and many more who knew and loved her. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sechrest was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Arnold Sechrest; five sisters, Pearlie Love, Stella Williams, Ann Vogler, Lillian King, and Vernie Hinton; and two brothers, Dennis Hiatt and Harvey Hiatt. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at 10:00 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, with Bishop Ray Riska officiating. Burial will follow in the James Monroe Hiatt Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 7:00 to 9:00 at Moody Funeral Home.
