Della Marion Coins

Mrs. Della Marion Coins, 85, of Pinnacle, passed away early Monday morning, October 30, 2023, at her home.  Mrs. Coins was born November 28, 1937, in Surry County, one of five children born to the late Hiram Franklin Marion and Lillian Daisy White Brooks Marion.  Della worked as a seamer for many years, retiring from both Sara Lee Hosiery and Brown Wooten Mills.  She was a Christian and a member of Blue Ridge Tabernacle.  She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Melinda and David Gwynn, Vivian and Keith Martin, and Susan and Ronald Akers; a son and daughter-in-law, James and Tammy Coins; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Coins was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Edward Leftwich Coins; a daughter, Judy Coins; and four sisters, Martha Key, Thelma Childress, Josie Payne, and Mary Vestal.  The funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Mount Airy First Pentecostal Holiness Church, with the Rev. Brian Frazier and the Rev. George Lambert officiating.  Burial will follow in the Whitaker’s Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery, under the direction of Rodney Bledsoe.  The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, where her body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes before the funeral service.  Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 1427 Edgewood Drive, Suite 101, Mount Airy, NC  27030.
