Mr. Delmah Baddge Galyean, 87, of Lowgap, passed away Thursday, January 12, 2017, at Surry Health and Rehabilitation Center in Mount Airy. Mr. Galyean was born November 4, 1929, in Surry County, to the late Bishop Carroll and Sina Ester Lowe Galyean. Delmah proudly served our country in the United States Army, in support of the Korean Conflict from 1952 until 1954 and the Army Reserves from 1954 until 1960. He later retired as a truck driver for Jim Dowell Produce. Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Frances Kline Galyean of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, Nick and Suzette Galyean, Robby and Misty Galyean, and Ronny and Leeanne Galyean; a daughter; Debbie Galyean; six grandchildren, Bret, Heather, Brandon, Taylor, Jonah, and Kenslee; and two sisters-in-law, Betty Galyean and Tootsie Galyean. In addition to his parents, Mr. Galyean was preceded in death by two brothers, Cullen Galyean and Dorsey Galyean. The funeral service will be held Sunday, January 15, 2017, at 3:00 PM at Charity Baptist Church, with the Rev. John Kinder and the Rev. Butch Holder officiating. Burial will follow in the Galyean Family Cemetery, with military honors conducted by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:30 until 3:00 PM at Charity Baptist Church. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Betty Galyean for all her help and kindness during Mr. Galyean’s illness. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
